Abstract:   (184 Views)
Background and objectives: Breastfeeding self-efficacy is the mother's confidence in breastfeeding. Breastfeeding self-efficacy is an adjustable and effective variable of exclusive feeding, and it can be increased with the right training program. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the effect of mothers' education in two routine and standardized methods in improving the self-efficacy of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers.

Materials and Methods: This experimental study was conducted in the field on 55 mothers with children under 2 months referring to comprehensive health service centers in Torbat Jam City by random sampling method in 2022. The educational intervention was provided in the form of 4 30-minute sessions, 2 sessions per week, based on the ISO10015 standard method. The data collection tool was the demographic information questionnaire and the standard breastfeeding self-efficacy questionnaire Dennis, completed before and 1 month after the intervention. The data were analyzed using SPSS 24 statistical software, with repeated measures ANOVA, Mann-Whitney, and Chi-square tests conducted.

Results: After being trained using the standardized method, the average self-efficacy of mothers significantly increased compared to before the training (p<0.01). This demonstrates that the standardized training method has enhanced the self-efficacy of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers. However, there was no significant difference in the average self-efficacy of mothers who received training using the routine method before and after the training.

Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that mothers educated by the standardized method, due to the need assessment in this method breastfeeding identification of mothers' needs in the field of breastfeeding, and the mother's education based on the identified needs, improve the self-efficacy of exclusive feeding with mothers breastfeeding. However, mothers educated using the routine method did not significantly affect their self-efficacy or change after the routine procedure.
