Abstract:   (233 Views)
Background and Objectives: Cancer is a common and debilitating disease and is one of the leading causes of death in children. The present study aimed to determine the effect of web-based education on the happiness of children with leukemia.

Materials and Methods: This is a semi-experimental study. The research population was mothers of children with cancer who referred to the hematology department of Ali Ibn Abi Taleb Hospital in Zahedan in 1403. The sample size was 80 people who were selected by simple random sampling. The intervention group received web-based training for 8 weeks. Before and 4 weeks after the end of the intervention, data were collected with the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 27 with independent t-tests, paired t-tests, chi-square, and analysis of covariance. A significance level of less than 0.05 was considered.

Results: Before the intervention, there was no significant difference in the mean happiness score between the two groups (p = 0.65). After the web-based quality of life therapy training, the results of the analysis of covariance test with control of the pre-test effect showed that the mean happiness score in the mothers of the intervention group (54.55 ± 6.84) was significantly higher than that of the control group (52.44 ± 8.53) (p< 0.001).

Conclusion: The web-based quality of life therapy intervention had a positive and significant effect on increasing the happiness of mothers of children with cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that web-based training be used to increase happiness and also improve the quality of life of mothers and children.
